Heavy pot-still goodness from the old Enmore still. Rich, creamy, buttery, full of flavor. I compared it directly against a 15-year aged version (blend of barrels from the same still). It's amazing at how much of that flavor is present in the white. Less anise, less intense (surprisingly), but still powerhouse. Truly a fantastic sipping experience.

This is hands down amazing. Port Murant, Demerara Distillers, from the oldest and last wooden double pot still in the world.
Sugar free!

The nose of this rum has amazing sweetness, considering it is a 0-sugar rum . Its a complex, buttery, sweet, nutty nose. Only smelling this rum, will give you the impression that it is a sweet and mellow rum. It smells like buttercakes fresh out of the oven.
The first taste is an explosion! The 59% attacks your mouth with loads of flavor. The high alcoholcontent, is in no way unpleasant. It is smooth and silky, and has hints if grass, bitter fruits, and a touch of petrol. This is as good as white rum will ever get, and I will drink it straight, any day of the week.

N- Highly volatile, raw sulphury new make fume of petrol, rusty metal and wood varnish hits at the beginning. Follow by lush of tart young guava, stone fruits and sweet liquorice in the middle, as it may not been aged, the liquorice probably derived from the wooden stills. Layer of acquiring cheesy aroma and old sourish coconut lurking. (22/25)

P- Even at 59%, depth with admirable of explosive sweetness balanced with drift of white oak extract, some vanilla (again, could be from the wooden stills), alike a musky old book. Immensely spicy, sharp sour citrus and blade-y polish alcohol cutting thru the palate, aggressive with bitter fragrant of pomerol peel at the tail. (23/25)

F- Extra long, burnt match stick with chewy dry tannin. Heady, heavy, hard and stiff. Spicy burning bark smokes arises from the back of throat. Return of old coconut. (21/25)

Balanced- Raw as it should be with an indifferent complexity that may be handful to many. Surely a difficult rum to be like, but a good reference on how a quality heavy white rum could be with equally bold and profound from nose to finish. The unique style of "100% wooden double pot stills" does add a couple of heritage value points here and there. (23/25)

The rum at the origin of all El Dorado! Straight from the still "port mourant" and without any addition or being filtered, please. Wow, on the paper it kicks ass, like all the "velier" products you could tell me. Yet the noze surprised me, I smell the soil, moist wood and fig. In the mouth the flavors are confirmed but are not unpleasant. This rum displays 59 ° but is not aggressive at all, the final is even interesting by leaving the palate fat, soggy. I would have liked a longer aftertaste. My opinion on this rum is divided because I am not entirely conquered, but on the other hand we must keep in mind that it is a white rum, and in this category it is waaaay superior to many other rums that are undrinkable on their own. Once the glass empty, I told to myself that I could have a little more, and that deserves a good rate.

Complex and Interesting rum on the nose. Vegetal/ grassy yet very pleasant aroma of young a rum, same time it has creaminess of white chocolate and thick molasses. Fruitiness of ripe bananas and cherry compote. Ends with tiny bit of smokiness and woody aroma.
Musky, leather and rubbery on the first sip. Follow with flavor of fresh herbs and spices such as mint and thai basil, vanilla and cinnamon. Fruity poached pear with white wine after a few sips.
Spicy cinnamon finishing with ripe banana. Light sweetness of caramel accompanied with peppery component.
Enjoy the complexity on the nose compare to the liquid, tends to pick up more aroma on every snift.
