Half way through my dive trip in Tobago, I asked the bartender what the locals drink, and I was served this, mixed with some pre-mixed juices into what he simply called "punch". Locals drink this just to get hammered. I asked for just a sip without the mixer, and quite frankly the alcohol obscured most of the flavor. What was left after the burn was slightly sweet rubbing alcohol.

For whatever it is worth, the Forres Park Puncheon Rum I have is not the color as seen in the Rumratings photo. I have a bottle that is clear. So apparently something has changed from the time the image was used to when I got my bottle. At the very least they filtered it. I wasn't familiar with this type of rum from Trinidad & Tobago and overall overproof rums tend to be rather tasteless and killer strong. However this rum actually has some decent flavor to it but be forewarned, it kicks like a pissed-off mule.

As I mentioned before, the rum is absolutely clear. No color whatsoever. It has a nice aroma hinting at some sweetness and swirling it in the snifter reveals nice legs.

The flavor has an initial sweetness from the molasses but being an overproof rum, the burn hits before anything more complex can be detected. And the burn lasts...a...very...long...time....

I tried sipping it a couple of times to try to detect some of the underlying flavors but just couldn't do it.

This is a sipping rum for only the most hearty of rum aficionados and even then it's going to be rough. In my opinion you have to be a real bad-ass to have this as your choice for a sipping rum. You would be better off using this as a mixer or a floater. Or perhaps use a substitute for lighter fluid. I expect this would do well in a rum punch however. A little goes a long way.

As far as overproofs go, this one is recommendable but its usage is rather limited.

[I think I may have taken off a layer of tissue in my throat.]

This can be used for cleaner or to start fires when trapped in the wilderness.

It pours clear. Aroma is mostly of alcohol. Instantly warming as soon as it hits the tongue. It's not as bad as I thought it was going to be though. Yes, it does taste of mostly alcohol but it's quite smooth and does have a sweet flavour. I'd probably prefer to mix it, to take the edge off.

This is a clear over proof rum....don't let the picture up top fool you. Probably the second best overproof on the market next to Ray and nephew, but this one has a more favorable taste to the novice. I love during the holiday time for rum punch.
