I heard this label was coming to The USA beginning in Florida, well it has made it to Nashville. This of course is the Puerto Rican version of Havana Club. As any rum aficionado knows the name is everything. I have enjoyed the Cuban version and this offering is not it. I have to say Havana Club 7 year is my personal plum line of dark rum. However it is a nice tasting rum, a bit sweet and slightly oaky but a thin finish. Great bottle although hard to read the gold on black lettering. Pretty good with Coke and strong enough to relax you but not much of a burn so it gets a good grade for what it is. While itโs not the real deal in my book, itโs the best Bacardi product on the market even though they pretty much hide the name. They do have product of Puerto Rico promently displayed. This Rum is Puerto Rican Strong !
I'm starting my rum appreciation journey and this is one of the first ones I've found. I find it a bit on the sweeter side, but also smooth. I've only had it neat, and like it. I can see using this as a mixer though too.
Nothing objectionable here, just a nice smooth mellow rum with no strong flavors. It may not be deep, rich or complex but it's good.
My brother found this rum at a good steal of a price, really enjoyed the light banana notes and its light undertone of sweetness. I will say that the smell is a little undesirable, but other then that, it's a good sip.
I was surprised with this one. The color looks a little watered down and the nose is almost straight alcohol, but the flavor was a nice surprise. Notes of sweetness and some spice but a little rough on the finish. Itโs not the best sipper but can be done in a pinch. However, this would make for a very good mixer. Either way, canโt go completely wrong either way.
This, to me, is a very basic aged rum. Tastes fine on its own and also makes pretty good daiquiris and old fashioneds. I feel itโs a better mixer than a sipper
Aroma is woody vanilla with a noticeable alcoholy scent.
Taste is caramel, wood, and vanilla.
Makes my brain feel nice. I don't know if it's actually good, but I like it
I like this Rum. If you want to start drink rum straight, this is one to try first. Its only $20 a bottle, its got a nice color and good legs. Its tasty and not harsh. Try this one then move on to more expensive Rums.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Rum comes from sugar cane so yes it is sweet. This rum is also smooth, smooth, smooth, at first sip and swallow. I have turned friends on to it and won them over! I hate to mix this rum over ice is just fine. I have tasted the Havana Club(not the Anejo though) brand from Cuba and frankly, I was disappointed.
