First white rum I have tried, definitely prefer dark rum. Not great to sip on it’s own, may have to add coke next time

The first try made an impression that it is a really solid young rum. But then we had somewhat different (after a few months) although in the same branding bottle. Whether it was some bad production portion or it was really changed - this left a really bad impression as the rum was quite horrible.

I'm not a big fan of white young rums. Frankly speaking - almost all of them are the same, as far as I'm concerned. Probably indistinguishable from Havana Club 3. And in cocktails, in general, everyone is on the same page. I can drink it in its pure form, but there is no special pleasure. So it's not bad, considering the sometimes attractive price.

unfortunately it s removed from the menu because the price increased 30%, substituted with another cuban, the havana club 3

The nose is quite similar to the Santiago de Cuba Anejo, but less prominent, waft of aged French calvados and vanilla, the taste is sweet, spicy, yet smooth, light, with a some of vanilla and lime, maybe a slight hint of tobacco, the finish is mildly spicy, again with a bit of tobacco. When mixed, it is a bit tamed mixer, the calvados-like taste gets lost a bit with coke, but it does not spoil any drink either. It is smooth enough to be consumed straight, but there is too little entertaining traits to be considered a sipper per se. For the price same as Captain Morgan, you get way much higher quality. Havana Club still wins against this one in its mixing value though.

On it's own its not that interesting, but considering the price you wouldn't expect it to be.
The aroma is mild with discrete notes of vanilla and pineapple, the flavour is sweet with notes of citra fruits and pineapple.

It's definitely not a sipper, but okay to mix in cocktails. It does not bring too much in cocktail either, alcohol with some fruity and vanilla aromas. If drunk pure it might bite tongue a bit, but is kind of smooth for throat.
It's cheap and goes well in mojitos :)

I really do not prefer white rums and this is one of the worses that I tried. Aroma is not that bad with hints fruit and sugar cane. Taste is from the start sweet and fruity but finish is very harsh and taste like vodka to me. Horrible.

Had a glass of Santiago de Cuba white rum while vacationing in Cuba. This rum is not “clear” as most white rums but far better than other white rums I have tasted in the past.

Quite sweet and smooth. It makes a decent daiquiri however it really doesn’t contribute a great deal of personality and the smoothness means that it can get lost unless you are heavy handed pouring your measures.
If you can find it on special then buy a bunch and give yourself 45ml nips.
you’ll be pleased you did.
