Distilled using small-batch copper pot stills uniquely designed for Appleton Estate, this rum is a blend of several rums aged 21 years in American oak barrels. Once blended, the rum is re-casked for two years to marry the flavors.
Appleton Estate 21-year rum is produced in Jamaica on one of the country’s oldest and most renowned sugar estates. Each bottle is individually numbered and comes with a signed aging certificate by master blender Joy Spence.

Warm, woody. Smooth, sweet, crisp. Soft nose. A fine rum for sipping.
With the 12 yr being good, its no suprise the extra maturation of the 21 yr makes this jus that little bit better ;-) Its more complex, giving you heavier caramels n vanilla notes and has a smoother finish. Best thing you can do for me with this is knock me up a Treacle! :-D
8-On the nose, what's immediately striking is its balance. The woodiness is fine, the alcohol present but well blended, and no single aroma takes precedence over the others. Vanilla, floral notes, almond, wood and orange form a winning team.
8,5-On the palate, the attack is both lively and greedy (without being sweet). The cask is more present here than on the nose, but blends very well with the molasses and brings us nutty notes.
Once you've drunk the rum, you're back to the walnut.
8-The finish is relatively dry, yet long. A mixture of brown sugar and wood accompany us for several minutes after tasting.
Was disappointed, it lost all its character just for smoothness
Prefer 12 oddly enough
Smooth sipping rum. Taste some oak coming though. Nice dark color. The bottle is well presented with a copper cap.
Very good jamaican Rum. The new bottle and the new version seem to be a little bit tastier
I was given a very health sized pour of this and enjoyed it a lot. To date, the rare casks 12 year has been my most dependable well priced bottle of rum. Without having it side by side with this at the time, it was hard for me to differentiate the two at all. So while this is a superb rum in it's own right, it is also probably double he price of the rare cask 12 year... so I would opt for that instead.
This rum jumps out to the nose Immediately! An overwhelming scent of bright fruit and oak. The taste is similar to its scent. A bit dry, finishes quicker than I thought, but still not short. I taste quality; I can pick out the flavors easily, as they are pronounced and good. Slight bite to it. I can tell it's an Appleton by its profile. They did not stray from their process.
Hell of a discovering! A great Jamaican Rhum with its generous esthers, with a warm, delicate and so well balanced taste. And what a long and pleasant long finish!
Nice brown sugar and toffee notes with a nice creamy nuttiness underneath.
"Tropical notes of sweet fruits a little orange zest and some nice notes of tropical fruit. It burns slightly on the finish which is very long and satisfying. ."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Had a big rum tasting a few months ago and this was in the top 2 favourites. In fact the whole Appleton range was very well favoured.
We destroyed a bottle of V/X in a sitting with a few mates. Lovely with a coke mix. Wish I got more bottles.
But this 21 was just something else. If you are into the really sweet rums, than this probably isn't for you. Go towards Diplomatico if that is your taste.
This finishes a little dryer, but that doesn't take anything away from it. It is a damn fine rum. Lovely oak and vanilla. Very smooth and minimal burn.
Drink it straight up, sit it and just enjoy.
Firmly in my top 5.
