El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum

El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year

Guyana | Aged | 43% ABV

El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.

The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

I love this rum. It's flavors are a direct improvement (though minor) over the 12-year, without imparting too strong of a aging barrel flavor. I can't place this rum over the 12-year, as the $20 price point increase does not reflect the marginal increase in flavor. Still, this rum is well worth a try.

A very solid sipping rum, another staple in my cabinet. I smell chocolate, toffee and vanilla with hints of tobacco.

The rum is rich in the mouth but not very complex. It has a satisfying sweetness that seems to intensify with a dash of ice. A very solid rum and recommended.

This rum is truly amazing.
The taste is good, the flavors are balanced.
Nose: you can smell molasses, caramel, vanilla and woodiness.
Palate: you can smell molasses, caramel, vanilla and spicy toasted wood.
This rum is soft, not aggressive and simply delicious. it will suit both beginners and connoisseurs. For a 15 year old I find it really excellent and not too expensive.
Highly recommended

For the price you pay up, it is quality and price comparison it is well worth every Euro. Can’t wait to get the 1980 version of this distiller. Would recommend.

Somehow this rum matches exactly my idea of what rum smells, looks and tastes like. Christmas spices, cola, muscovado sugar
Perfect comfort sipper.

Smells amazing like banana pancakes. The first sip is sweet and tastes a bit like liquorice, the evolution afterr er I can't really describe but feels gritty. I like it find the El Dorado 12 more balanced.

Since my the 12 years old El Dorado is my big favourite among rums, therefor it was a must for to try the 15 years old (and later on the 21 years old) El Dorado as well. It really just a more fuller, more richer in taste version of the 12 years old, so if you liked that you will love this one.

This rum got me, I tried the 12y version and I couldn't finish it. Then I added a few crowns for the 15y version and I definitely like it better. I bought 3 bottles, but the last one I don't like so much, maybe a bad batch.
Update: After half a year I tried another bottle and again I don't like it. I will never buy it again, they spoiled it.

Unbelievable for it's price point. Compared to the 12yr it is smooth, and refined, but it still manages to hold on to all of the awesome funkiness that you expect from a demerara rum, which the 21yr doesn't really hold on to.

Very nice, rich flavour. Perfect for a rum old fashioned.
