El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum

El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year

Guyana | Aged | 43% ABV

El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.

The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

Tried it side by side with the 12 year. It is a bit smoother and complex than the 12 when sipping. Probably wouldn't use this in a cocktail.

I still never tried El Dorado 12 but I really doubt it can be better than this one. If this one has no alcohol I could drink it a whole day, like water hahaha.... el dorado is the best, hands down ;) Nice dark chocolate taste, warming and strong aftertaste, rich, complex, not so oaky, slightly fruity, seems so refreshing. Tasty 😊

El dorado 12 was my gateway rum so I was excited to see the 15 on sale. ($40 CAD, usually around $53)
Smells sweet like the 12 but less alcohol and more intrigue. The taste has more going on too. Where the 12 was sweet, it was rather one dimensional. The 15 is still quite sweet but has some more chocolate/coffee, vanilla and oak going on. Longer finish with more to think about. Quite tasty, an excellent rum for my kind of taste: sweet and a bit complex. No one flavour really hops out at me, but lots to mull over. If you like the 12, definitely try the 15!
Based on price, availability, and flavour, this is a 10+!

ED15 is hands down my favorite daily drinker. It is a very rare day that you can't find a bottle of this in my cabinet. I prefer to sip it over a single ice cube but my wife who is not a fan of rum loves it mixed with a little coke. I've used this in a couple different marinades and found it goes great with grilled fruit.

There are hints of coffee but its not overwhelming which i love as a non coffee drinker. It also has nice hits of allspice and candied orange peel.

This is the best sipper rum I’ve tested yet, on this range of price it’s my favorite, Diplomatico Réserva Exclusiva used to be 1st place, now El dorado 15 is exactly how I like my rum, a little sweet, explosive flavors, great smell, oh, after the first glass I ordered another one.

I have tested El Dorado 8yrs and 12yrs. Both won’t be on my shopping list again, ED15 is a really great tasting rum.

Give it a try, you won’t regret it !

Unbelievable for it's price point. Compared to the 12yr it is smooth, and refined, but it still manages to hold on to all of the awesome funkiness that you expect from a demerara rum, which the 21yr doesn't really hold on to.

I keep coming back to this as my favorite sipping Guyana. It doesn't break the bank and has some of the richest flavors of any rum I have tasted.

It's the only rum I can get my bourbon snob friends to appreciate.

This is the finest sipping rum I’ve had to date, and just bought another bottle. Dee character, mellow flavor, no harshness whatsoever. Highly recommend.
