El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.
The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.
This rum is brilliant. Good enough to sip and enjoy, or to bring a special touch to cocktails. I compare rums to it. lovely drop.
I can say nothing specifically about the rum that has not been said. I agree wholly that its ubiquitous availability and reasonable (less and less so unfortunately) price point make it a planet in the rum universe. Fantastic as a misty day neat sipper or a put on the slippers and watch Better Call Saul with a slow one. But...put it in a Mai Tai!? You say sacrilege, I say maybe, but the ElDo 15-yr, Smith & Cross Navy Strength and Clément Créole Shrubb, Mai Tai is crushing the charts right now. Fresh squeezed limes, homemade almond syrup and you are off. Decadent? Yes! Worth it. Yes!
A trully safe value. A very good value for money. A beautiful dark color, a rich body, a silky and very long taste. For me, the main characteristic of this rum is the deep banana smell, as if it were tasted in the heart of the plantation!
O chlup lepsi nez 12 lety, ale rozdil neni az tak veliky.
Starsi brat 12 rocnej verzie.
Excellent sipping rum. Brown sugar is the key flavor that I pick up. Little to no burn at the end. Highly recommended
At the moment, this Rum just feels to have everything i like. Smooth but still has a punch to it, sweet but no too sweet and a great cocktail of aroma. A few drops in a big cognac glass and will bring you directly to the Carribean sea.
I prefer sweeter rums, but this is a nice change. It's sharp a little and quite tasty.
Eccellente, strutturato. Gran rum da degustazione. Vero demerara
This rum is nice the drink by itself no mixers. It has a sugary taste and great aroma. The color is a nice dark colored. There is no bitterness to the taste and goes down nice. I was very happy to see them sell it here in Florida. Most of the people I share it with loves it.
De el dorado-rums vind ik allen lekker im drinken. De 15 year is uiteraard een groter genot om drinken dan de 12 year. Een niet te complexe rum en aan te raden aan velen.
Tastes slightly smoky, hints of tobacco and barrique.
Tasted this one as part of a rum tasting event, would need a few sips more for a more detailed comment.
Icious sipper. Classic aged Guayanan profile, not sweet but a brief fire at first and smooth the rest of the way down. Very enjoyable!
Its sweet but not as much as a elixir. Never tried anything with that barely noticeable alcohol presence. Stunning. You have to be carefull to not drink the bottle at once. Fruity, sweety, balanced, mild. Pure sipping pleasure.
Matured in bourbon barrels.
Caramel, Vanilla, Dry prune, Dark Chocolate, Smoke, Bourbon Cask...
Outstanding Rum, the Best of the 12-15-21 El Dorado Serie.....
Very tasteful. Good aroma's and not to much of a bite
I like the bottle and of course what's inside, it is an excellent rum with complexity and character. It's one of the best I have had and I really recommend this rum to everybody who likes rum.
On the nose after opening the bottle you can smell strong alcoholic note, but its fades very quickly and turns to vanilla, spiciness and oakiness. But it domain is the fruity sweetness and then you can smell cacao, coconut and marzipan aroma.
On the palate it is spicy with fruit sweetness and spiciness and oak from the cask.
The finish is middle long with spice and oak, but very pleasant.
Overall this rum well balanced pleasant to smell and sip. This is a very good buy for beginners and also for experienced rum drinkers. Really worth the money and I personally love it.
I started with the good 12 year old. This quickly led me to tasting the 15 year old which is my rum of choice for a couple of months now. First sips are quite strong because of 43% alcohol but with this rum it never stops at one glass.
Tried this today and well it is very different from the 12 year. First of all I found it less sweet, although the test results says they have almost the same amount of added sugar. Then the smell of this one and the first sip are something that you can't forget after you have tasted it. It is really fruity, and of course have vanilla and orange peel. A must try.
Among the smoothest, tastiest spirits I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. Very subdued alcohol burn on the nose and on the finish, you can tell this stuff is very well mellowed. Palate is delightfully sweetened, without overdoing it, and with silky, ever so smoky, ever so spicy hints. Suffice to say, I'm a fan of this rum and look forward to being able to work my way up the El Dorado ladder.
Spicy and sweet. Best rum I've had in this price range. Incredibly smooth and balanced in flavors. No single flavor overpowered the rest. I always make sure to have this one on hand.
This one has a thick molasses/caramel nose right out of the gate. You can tell this one is going to be a good Demerara right away.
Flavor is rich cocoa, brown sugar notes. smooth afterburn, nothing too harsh.
A deep color, yet not as dark as some decent and cheaper Demeraras.
I've bought this one at least twice now, it makes a good rich flavoured painkiller. (pussers don't be trying to sue me..)
This one is a bit pricier than I'd like it to be, but it's still a good choice if you are looking for a quality Demerara.
A quite good rum. Nice flavour. Not to smooth. Pleasent aroma. Enjoyable.
To try ED rums cause of my father's word, but finally decided to give then a try. First was the 15 special reserve, this is easily one of my fave sipping rums now. So easy in the throat hardly any burn , very similar to Papa's Pilar which is fantastic.
Nose is very sweet , hints of dark fruits like raisins and maybe some chocolate
If you let it breathe for about 15 minutes you will be impressed.
