For a cheaper bottle ($15) was a very nice surprise! First things first, this is probably one of the most pleasantly aromatic spirits I have had to date. Very strong aroma, with lots of banana, vanilla, burnt caramel, and some spice in there too. The taste is a rich, iced banana bread, but it only lasts for a short while before the 47% ABV and strong spice flavors (cinnamon, clove, black pepper, sweet basil) rushes through and overwhelms everything. Finish is rather short, otherwise this would probably be scoring a 9. A very intense and pleasing rum!
Flavoured Rum - Hhmnnn...
13 Feb '17
I don't usually drink 'flavoured' rum, however this one looked intriguing, so I gave it a shot (or rather, drank a few shots;). Anyways... This rum has a mild and pleasant vanilla scent, along with a reddish brown colour. I found it too harsh to sip straight, although it tastes pretty good with ice and coke. From a flavour perspective, I found it has a bit of an artificial 'froot loops' taste...
It's not bad by any means, tasting it straight to try and understand it. Tastes like vanilla, smells exactly like those bottled Starbucks Frappuccino drinks. Not bad but definitly artificial. Not my cup of tea.
