Jamaica | Aged | 43% ABV

Appleton Estate 12-Year Rum is a blend of several rums aged between 12 and 18 years in American oak barrels after being distilled using small-batch copper pot stills.

The rum is produced on the Appleton Estate, which sits in the Nassau Valley in Jamaica. The estate’s origins date back as far as 1655 when the English overthrew the Spanish to rule the island and Frances Dickinson, grandfather of the distillery’s founders, received the land as a reward for his role in the overthrow.

Я не понимаю откуда такой рейтинг у этого рома. Возможно мне попался контрафакт. Но это хуже чем какой-то дешманский бакарди

Solid rum and great value at 25 EUR in Germany
Sure it is oaky - bourbon barrel - heavy on vanilla and caramel
But you've gotta lov it

This is one of my go to rums in a mai tai. An excellent, funky, tasty jamaican rum!

Good rum, typical Jamaican
Just a bit better quality. Not bad for sipping. Mild cigar matches this one well.

This rum is incredibly smooth for the price range. Fantastic flavor, a little less nuance that Real McCoy 12 year, but significantly less bite. This can be a sipper which is rare for a $40 dollar rum, but isn't as full as something more expensive.

Every time I enjoy this, I can hear Joy Spence with that wonderful patois accent saying, "No added shu-gah!".

What a delightful creation. One of the few I enjoy neat.

Nose - Apricot, Oak, Molasses
Palate - Spice, Vanilla, Caramel, Orange

Long, outstanding finish.

This is a standard of excellence, top to bottom.

With the manipulations of some other heralded brands, I understand why a master artist like Ms. Spence could be vexed at uninformed comparisons.

As the title says, this was the rum I was drinking the night I lost my virginity.

Can’t say it was the most incredible experience and I think due to that I don’t look to fondly on this rum.

In my opinion, you don’t really age rum — it gets spoiled.

Whisky needs it, but you can over-age that too, and take out the character. I think people are only aging rum these days to appeal to Scotch drinkers who don’t know better. You end up with a bland, syruppy thing on your hands.

That said, Appleton 12-yo is pretty good, but suffers somewhat from the above defects.

As to why anyone would buy their 30-yo — some people have more money than sense!

Good as a mixer not sure of all the hype . Not sweet at all with an acid burn . Will be serving this on mixed .
