Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still Distilled

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

Unfortunately, this 12-year-old EL Dorado was a little disappointing. It is a weak body rum and a bit flavorless. Next time I would go for the 15 years EL Dorado instead.

Sladší rum, který je opět velmi univerzální, trochu ostřejší než Diplomatico, ale řekl bych o něco zajímavější. Kdo má rád sladší rumy, velmi dobrý poměr cena/výkon. Ale žádné překvapení.

Smells of, Caramel and pinneaple. Sweet taste of fruit, pie with a lingering evolution into some spice. I actually prefer this one to the 15.

Strong flavor, a surprisingly complex rum. Works well on the rocks with lime.

Nice and smooth. Lots of brown sugar. Almost too sweet for me.

The El Dorado brand has plenty of visually appealing and easily drinkable blends. The 12 year isn’t the highest end, but it’s certainly the most economic. In my experience, this brand goes on sale often enough that it finds itself priced much more affordably, especially around holidays. A very enjoyable rum that works wonderfully with some ginger beer or a cola. Definitely take advantage of any discounts, but you won’t be disappointed if you pay for it outright.

For me similar to El Dorado 8. A little bit sweeter and even milder in taste.

Rich taste with a wonderful color and full spicy aroma with hints of fruit and toast, with a full body again with the power of fruit, tobacco and orange peel, with the taste of oak.

Unfortunately I can only describe a rum, while Im drinking it, and I haven't drank this one for a while now. The 12 years old El Dorado was my second rum discovery after the Pampero Aaniversario and it definitely topped the former one in quality and taste, but kinda similar too to the Pampero. I wouldnt say its a very complex rum, but it is a great rum nevertheless. If you are just getting familiar with real rums I would recommend this or the Pampero to start with.

This is an awesome rum for sipping and mixing a high quality cocktail. For sipping I prefer it with an ice cube. I give it a 9 for it's versatility of being a solid sipper and high quality mixing rum.
