Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still Distilled

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

First tasted at the Palace Cafe in New Orleans. I'll fight anyone who doesn't like this rum. Ruby red color. Butterscotch and anise to the aroma. The balance of pepper-alcohol-honey sweetness is near perfect to my tastes. Plus, this remains a crazy great price by comparison to the longer aged offerings by Diamond.

Whenever my exploration of rums from all over the world hits a roadblock for whatever reason this is what I'll get to remind myself what my journey's all about. El Dorado 12 is a pleasantly aromatic spirit with a hint of leather on the back end and zero to complain about. This is a delicious rum whether neat or with a mixer and never fails to please; I imagine it'll be good for both beginners and seasoned rum enthusiast alike. In fact I'd say that the *only* problem with the El Dorado 12 is the existence of the El Dorado 15! ;-)

Buon rum ad un prezzo onesto. Per i miei gusti perรฒ troppo dolciastro.

Very disappointed in this rum. Tasting after
enjoying Real McCoy 5 year old which I give a solid 8.
This rum taste and looks artificial. Too much caramel coloring along with taste. As a mixer alright, drinking straight no way!
Much rather spend my money on Godlings Black Seal which has more character than this.

Bought this as the same time as Diplomatico and though both are definitely good rums this was slightly behind the Venezuelan rum.

Good for taking the edge off after a long day. Great straight or for a fancy mixer.

A solid thicker more involving rum. Sweeter and a bit lighter (but more vibrant) on the nose than the 15, but with less oak, more fruit and a bit of an aftertaste. N: thicker molasses, sweet. T/F: sweeter, mid-spicy, ends sweet if a tad bit flat
