found this and immediately bought some bottles for my bar,
produced by supervision of gianni capovilla (maybe the best living italian distiller, he s a legend)
it was the perfect product to make the ti punch, traditional cocktail from the french antilles
but what now ? i can t find a bottle anymore, it was a limited edition or what ?
im very disappointed !
Despite the 56%, surprisingly mellow but yes plenty of flavour, grassy and floral. Very enjoyable.
The Rhum Rhum PMG is an agricole of the Bielle Distillery of the island of Marie Galante in Guadeloupe. The rhum produced in pot still was bottled by Velier with 56% alcohol in cask strength.
The Agricole is not severe or unpleasant in the nose. Fresh floral grass notes with lemon are perceptible. Also light glue and a fine spice. If the Rhum gets time to breathe, it also becomes less snapy. On the palate, the rhum is pleasantly sweet with a clear spicy note. Balanced and floral, the rhum is surprisingly complex with a little salt and pepper. The finish is then a bit short but pleasantly dry and balanced.
An amazingly good white rhum, which shows all the art of making a great distillate. Absolutely recommended.
Nose of grass, cane juice and a slight undertone of funk. The palate enforces the aromas of herbaceous cane juice, adding a touch of saltiness but mostly fruit with lichee and banana. Long aftertaste for an unaged product.
Great craftsmanship, this is for those who can appreciate the crispness of white quality spirits. I like to add this to cocktails too. If you have a standard molasses rum as base spirits, add a centilitre of this one and it will lift just about any kind of rum cocktail I can think about. I find it plays particularly well with fixes or any recipe with pineapple juice.
Dry, salty and can’t be drunk on its own for sure. but it is worth the try if you are in Guadeloupe. would not waste the money on the bottle (thats my opinion anyway)
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I'm still starting out with rum, so take my review with several grains of salt, as this rum also taste like.
On the nose it is grassy, earthy, slightly funky, but floral and a bit sweet. I also pick up some nail polish.
On the palate it is quite boozy, as is to be expected from a 56. I feel it in my nose, but it doesn't burn my throat and has quite a nice mouthfeel. The taste I find very subtle, except from the salt which is very noticable. I appreciate the salt in the Rhum J.M 2011, but I think it should be accompanied by something else to back it up, which is noticably absent here.
It's a fun rum in many aspects, though I can't help but feel something is absent. Maybe it's just not for me, maybe it should be funkier, maybe it gets better with time. For now I'd give it a solid 7+, but closer to 7 than 8.
