Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
My normal sipper is Bacardi 8 and this one seems on par with that to me. Will have to try a side-by-side to nail it down. Will be a fun test.
Dark, deep flavour with tones of wood, ash. Less honey taste than zacapa 23. Deeper, richer than diplomatico mantuano. The bottle is really cool, but is it worth the extra cost, compared to zacapa? Not sure, feels like a strong mature rum. I will need a few more sips to make the right judgement. Not bad, thats for sure.
Don Q Gran Anejo is well packaged and looks very impressive.
Unfortunately, my good feelings for this rum prospect ended there.
It has a strong smell and creates a real burning sensation in the mouth.
It is drinkable with a mixer, however it just does not make the grade as a rum to be enjoyed on its own.
Wow! Why did I not decide for the other one in the store. Very flat flavor, no vanilla, marginal or no sugar added. However a strong smell - very similar to that of my childrens glue - remains on top of all.
sorry, but half of the money you pay is obviously for the nice bottle.
I bought this rum on a whim based on the strong recommendation from the liquor store owner. I admit I was a little skeptical, but got it for a good price and thought it'd be fun to try a new rum.
I was actually very pleasantly surprised, and thought it was a very good, solid rum! I gave it a weighted score of 8.05, which I rounded down to 8 for rumratings.com. My scoring system (with weights) is as follows:
-Packaging (10%): 7
-Color (20%): 7
-Nose (20%): 8.5
-Palette (25%): 8
-Smoothness (25%): 9
It had a great flavor and was nice and smooth. I would have no problem at all buying this rum again, and would confidently serve it to guests.
Very enjoyable. I preferred on the rocks. Nicely built flavor profile. Nothing jumps out but everything fits
Straw colored, pleasantly sweet nose, not as sweet on the tongue as some in this price range but it finishes cleanly and without much burn. I'm fine with the lack of sweet. This is unapologetically good rum with no frills or fancy facades. $57 (NW Florida,USA) is about right.
This one actually tastes a lot better than I expected. First impression, the bottle is really cool, because the stopper is neat. This rum really has a good flavor and is pretty smooth. A bit expensive I think, but it is good.
Don Q Gran Anejo is a smooth rum without any added sugars/flavors. Higher in price than some others that in my option are a better value...Kirk and Sweeney comes to mind.
I have to say when I first sipped this Rum and got that burn I was like cheep, but after I took a few more sips and letting it breath a little I changed my Opinion. This was on if the best Non Sweet Artificial Rum I sipped on!
Délicieux rhum avec des arômes de vanille et de caramel.
La finale est plutôt longue incluant des saveurs de chêne accompagné subtilement de vanille.
Very smooth. Nice butterscotchy flavor. Lovely finish. No bite.
A light bodied sipping rum, big nose, lots of vanilla. Big opening, lots of pepper. Long finish, the oak comes through.
This is gorgeous. Smooth sipper. Lovely bottle and I love the trick with the bottle top
Bon rhum mais sans plus, rien d'extraordinaire, mais bon quand meme
Assez ruff, manque de complexité. Sur l'alcool. Trop cher
it´s a good one, he had his name from the famous Novelle "Don Quixote" by Miguel Cervantes. He is not so sweet. It´s a blend from different Rum´s
I was unaware the high regard this Rum garners, my first encounter.
Medium amber, slightly floral nose. Mild honey, vanilla. Smooth finish
I love the presentation the bottle is real nice I would prefer it on the rocks or as a mixed drink has a burn to it but otherwise not bad just not sweet enough for me
That was the highlight for me , the classy bottle. I've tried this rum a couple of times now and wanted it to grow on me.. its not ! Lovely golden straw colour when poured , good medium legs in the glass.
Honey is the only aroma that comes to mind apart from astringent alcohol vapours. I left in the glass for the usual 20 mins but still very fiery . It says 6-12 years on the box but tastes very young to me.
Adding a teaspoon of water helped with the taming of the beast but its not for me im afraid. This will be an expensive mixer ....
Poured neat, you smell a lot of oak and spice with a hint of honey. It rolls over the tongue nicely with a lot of flavor. Bourbon drinkers will like the oakiness. It leaves behind a bit of anise that would pair nicely with a cigar.
Don Q Gran Añejo is surprisingly smooth. A very nice rum to sit and relax with.
Belle bouteille, le rhum est bon mais pas assez pour un 8.
