Itโs cheap, easy to find, comes in a large bottle, and doesnโt taste like crap. Itโs the perfect rum for a rum nโ coke.

For an entry level, opening price point this is a quality rum. Just sweet enough, mellow easy. It's a lot of rum at a reasonable price.
And you would think so as I came of age on St. Croix back in the early 70's... It, is my Mainstay Rum.. Still Drinking it to this day.. Well later today.. arrgh...

This is a reasonably smooth, light to light-medium body. Some vanilla tone, and lightly sweet, with a touch of baking spice and mild citrus notes. Works great as a mixer in Tiki when a gold VA is called for, and can sub nicely for gold Puerto Rican too. Can't beat it for the price.
This a smooth dark rum that enjoy on a daily basis. It is smooth with a flavor I enjoy in a Cuba Libre.

Great taste, has a nice bite to it for sure. Definitely on the cheaper side, hence the price, but still a very solid rum nonetheless.
OK, first the price - can't be beat. This is the best rum for the money and I'd take it over many more expensive rums. That said, it's not going to wow you with flavor, but it's not too sweet (which is my preference) and it is smoother than most for drinking on the rocks. Since Myers was my default rum, this has definitely replaced it!

This rum has a rummy, smooth flavor. It has some vanilla notes from the oak. It does taste pretty sweet, but in a good way.

This rum is light in body and in taste. Like drinking straight alcohol. Needs to be heavily mixed to be tolerable.

Mixing rum only. Cruzan Gold and I did not get along. Bought it on a whim a while ago to challenge my standard Bacardi gold rum for mixing but was very disappointed.
When it first met my taste buds, I thought things would really work out between us, a light but teasing complex flavor working well with the Cola that was different to the Bacardi. The problems started once the rum started settling, this very cheap bottom shelf flavor invaded the party destroying all of the initial hope, that taste never left after that. Couldn't drink the rest of the bottle as a result.
