More ripe pineapple on the nose than on the palette. Not a great sipper, but makes a killer daiquiri. Plantation adds 20 g/L of sugar, so nicely sweetened.
Never disappoints, sweet, to the point, easy to understand
Nose is old colony pineapple soda smells a bit artificial even though I’ve met the owner and they said they crunch tons of real pineapple all the time. Taste is over burn and just too candyish not overly sweet but just candy tasting instead of more natural fruit.
For the value I find this rum an 7.5 of 10. Rounded to 8.
This is a delightful variation of the Plantation Original Dark which I like very much for mixed drinks and maybe on the rocks depending on my mood.
I enjoy the subtle infused pineapple taste compared to flavored rums which I find much too sweet.
My favorite drink at the moment is a pineapple daiquiri using these ingredients:
2oz - Stiggins Fancy Pineapple
1/2oz - smugglers cove Demerara syrup
1 oz - fresh lime juice
Shake on ice and strain into a chillled coupe.
Nice hint of pineapple :)
Enjoy!
Amazing pineapple rum without artificiels. Much better than original dark.
The nose is sweet but not overly so.
"Smells very much of fresh pineapple as opposed to sweetened tinned pineapple."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Who knew a pineapple rum could be this good

I'm always wary of flavoured rums. A friend took a chance on this though, and man was I happy about it. Immediately on opening the bottle, you could smell the pineapple. In a good way. We poured a glass, and took a quick sniff - where did the pineapple go? All we could smell was the rum, and it smelled delicious. But, after a few moments, the pineapple was back. Subtle, but enticing. We each took a taste, and lit up. Delicious. Light brown sugar, maybe toffee, oak, spices... and the pineapple. Casually there. Not in your face, but waving 'Hi!' on every delicious sip. The soft, delicious (sweet) of the pineapple, but none of the acidity. So good. I bet it would be even better in a mixed drink (rum punch?), but I think it's too good to use for that!
This wasn't some cheap party booze. The pineapple was there, but it was still a solid rum. Highly recommended.
