I used this rum for making coquito (a Puerto Rican holiday drink). It was great in this creamy, sweet, coconutty traditional drink. it cut the sweetness and you could taste the spiciness nicely. I wouldn’t suggest drinking it neat. If you want to get drunk fast, it’ll definitely do that! For me, it served its purpose. I used it to replace Bacardi 151 and it was a great replacement. I actually think it was better. I also liked it better than Don Q 151. It was cheaper, too.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

.. smooth rummy taste, with a clean finish, no oiliness. Way better than some other cheap overproofs like say, Bacardi 151. I don't add pop to my overproof rum, I cut it 50/50 with a good 40% ABV vodka, so I can really taste it. It comes out about 117 proof - you do the math! If you put pop in your overproof, it really doesn't matter what the rum is. Ron Diaz is nearly as good as the king of the overproof cheapies, which is Cruzan.
