Riviere du Mat XO Traditionnel 6-Year

I just love the simplicity of the bottle and the wonderful colour of this rum. One of my favourites and the rum that made me a rum fanatic. It has a wonderful nose, tickels your tongue and has a lovely sweet aftertaste. Great value for money for an XO. I can't keep myself from comparing any new rum I taste to this one.

At the price of €50 i find this a superb XO. Beautiful dark colour with a fruity nose. Good smooth, little sweet taste with fruits, vanilla and spices. Long lasting aftertaste that makes you wish for more.

Nice one, cognac barrels (Reunion is part of France) gave to this rum some elegance, interesting nose, taste reminds me of some Savanna rums (also from Reunion), in particular that wine like taste ... but also you can say vanilla, raisins and oak, just the finish is a little bit short, but the rum is really drinkable and smooth, i give to this an 8,5 !
to this rum i will give 10 if just a little bit stronger (more flavorful) ...

Deep flavor, dry, not to sweet. Almost like a cognac. Great color.

The beautiful age XO results in a copper color and mahogany highlights . The nose is marked by floral notes the power and tenderness of dried fruit nuances, vanilla, licorice and macerated fruit. In the background are expressed notes of tobacco and forested peaks. Nice to have !

Cool rum! For real men! Not too tasty but quite strong to drink a good rum!

Très bonne surprise que ce xo, avec du caractère et sans excès dans les épices ou le boisé. Rivière du mat est ce qui se fait de mieux à la Réunion.

Beau nez, attaque caramel mais tout en douceur et final round. Un classique

nice golden / amber colour; elegant aromatic bouquet dominated by cane and dry fruits, especially plum flavour; though spicy this rum still has a soft palate in my view. Finish/aftertaste is very fine but could be somewhat longer. Therefore (only) 8/10 rating. Nevertheless this rum is actually my standard rum. Aged in (french) limousin barrels which differntiates this rum from competitors that have aged in less expensive american oak barrels. According to the producer web site this blended rum from the island of Reunion is matured for 6 years.

Ce rhum traditionnelle est une perle; un nez sympa comme tout, qui donne envie de humer le verre du début à la fin, un goût complexe avec une attaque équilibré, plutôt douce et suave, épicé type vanille/ poivre.
Très beau produit, qui a son petit caractère.
Je vais essayer de trouver d'autres choses de la même distribution.
