The nose is wonderful, in the mouth it is thick.. With a hint of coffe.. But the fire from the alcohol comes at you. It burns you at the finish. And leaves you with that wonderful hint of coffe. I can´t wait for this rum to mature..
Ok sipper, good mixer. But for that price - terrible for both.
Best Rum in the category €50-€75. Smooth, silky, creamy, sugar, vanilla. The French oak gives it a more fruity flavor than American oak. One of the few rums I always keep in stock!
I thought that nothing would inspire me anymore, but I find so many flavors and aromas in these rums that I also ordered a 65% XO Cask version for the test. However, it is already very strong, but this 40% Esclavo XO is perfection for me and I currently have it in one of the first positions in my rankings. I expect that the next version will be called Patridom, because the brand is changing.
Very very nice rum. Of course you have to drink this pure
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Another masterpiece from Oliver & Oliver
Beautiful dark amber in glass, like forest honey.
In the nose, as in hot caramel dipped dark roasted wood with prunes and cinnamon garnished.
The palate, very soft, sweet and round, a little Solera typical, yet very interesting. The tongue is caressed by the wood and caramel. Aromas of toffee, dark chocolate, dark stone fruit and dark spices join in harmoniously.
In the finish, sticky caramel on the wood, which accompanied me since the beginning. Tasty and long lasting.
A typical O & O Ron like Opthimus or Quorhum, therefore rating only 8.75
For beginners and connoisseurs.
Edit: December 2020: New presentation, very elegant and top fashionable.
Rich amber with mahogany tinge in the glass.
Very hard wood notes on the nose, some fruit and caramel.
Warm, sweet and smooth on the palate, chocolate with caramel, bits of fruit and a few snippets of wood.
Finishes with fruit, caramel, cocoa and a very slight bitterness.
Not a 1:1 tasting, but remember the old version being more full-bodied. 7.5
