One of Zacapa's specialties, nice and rich nose, the aromatic sweet herbs make there presence felt a second after you sip from it, very well balanced taste, masks the strength 45% quite nicely.
This rom is very nice. Heavy oiled complex rum. It is absolutely worth all the money. The strong alcohol halt is almost hidden in this rum.
LΓ¦kker Rom. MΓ₯ske lidt dyr i forhold til hvad du fΓ₯r. Men at den smager godt kan man ikke komme udenom.
The first smell is like a zacapa, but without the sweetness. There are herbs in the foreground, I must say I don't prefer this notes but I like the mix of them with the sweetness. It's also close to Zacapa 23.
Both of them need some time, after some minutes the smell transforms and they became nice Zacapas.
I still miss the sweetnes with intensiv caramel notes in this edition, that is very typical for zacapas. I think the 2014 edition is younger than other limited editions. Maybe it's as old as Zacapa 23, but it's less sweet.
The taste reminds me of ron botran 1893. There is an orange peel on the palet. I'm not a big fan of this edition, but if you like a less sweetened Zacapa, go for it.
It's closer to natural rum than other zacapas and the only one rum with more herbs that I know is the 20y Demerara 1998 bottled by Artesanal.
Smell: some cocoa/chocolate, fresh green plants or herbs, some caramel (I lack the sweet caramel and figs), white oak
Taste initial: caramel, white aok, vanilla,
Taste middle: burned suggar, herbs, fruits (orange peel)
Finish: spice, warm burn, firmint, some bitterness, slightly orange
Sweetness: 2/5
Fruit: 2.5/5
Spice: 2.5/5
Mildness: 4/5
Value (160β¬): 1.5/5
Tested this in the same evening as Zacapa Royal and Zacapa 23, Royal I scored as 10 and Limitada 9, it is well balanced and with great aftertaste, better then Zacapa 23!
One of the best rums I drunk until now. In my opinion it definately a level above el dorado 15 yrs. it is full of nice aromas in the nose. The body is deep, full and a bit sweet. Finish is long but smooth. For 80 euro definately value for the money.
Has loads more going for it then the regular zacapa solera 23. A full bodied rum with a nice balanced sugar cane juice sweetness coupled with complex, spicy wooden flavours. Very nice, but perhaps slightly overpriced. (8,5)
Typicka zacapa podle vune. Trochu nasladla chut. 7,5/10
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

A bit floral Zacapa

The color is a dark mahogany, I was expecting more dense for an old rum in the glass.
Initially the nose is wood and strongly alcohol, as soon as you open with a te spoon of water and gives some time, sugar and honey start appearing.
There is some herbal note I can notice; fresh mint, I think it is the singularity of this rum, however I was expecting a bit more organoleptic experience for the price range.
The taste begun burning the tongue, unctuousness is regular, I was expecting a full-body to be honest, a bit disappointed in this aspect.
The finish is woody and some bitter chocolate note.
In general the rum is good for sipping but to be honest I was expecting a bit more for the price!
