All aspects of tasting like aroma, sweetness or afterburn are just wonderful. Excellent for celebrations: after the very first glass you wish to have the whole bottle for yourself and to get tanked up!

As of this review, this rum has a score of 8.3, while the Presidente 23 has a score of 8.0. I think this one is a little better, as the 23 year has a bit more oak finish to it and a little less sweetness.

Smells and tastes of molasses, caramel, marzipan, and honey. Doesn't have the oaky finish of the 23, which is nice. A very good rum, especially at the price!

Well over 700 aged dark rums enjoyed and Presidente Marti 19 year from Oliver & Oliver is easily on my Top 10 list after 15 years of tastings. It is superb, so smooth you can't imagine, no burn at all and contains plenty of exciting flavors. Only a marginal difference to the 23 year old rum and surprisingly small price difference for an extra 4 years of maturing. If you haven't tried yet this Dominican Republic produced but Cuban inspired 19 year Rum, I will guarantee it will set a brand new benchmark for your personal rum list.

Here's my top 20 list:
1. Ron Esclavo XO Cask Strength
2. Legendario 15y
3. Cubaney Centenario 25-30y
4. Esclavo XO
5. Millonario XO and 15y
6. Plantation Barbados XO 20th Anniversary
7. El Dorado 25y
8. Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva and Single Vintage
9. Presidente Marti 23y and 19y
10. Cubaney 18y
11. Pusser's 15y
12. Black Tot
13. El Pasador de Oro XO and Gran Reserva
14. Punta Cana Esplendido
15. Edmundo Dantes 15y
16. Pampero Aniversario
17. Bacoo 12y
18. Esclavo 15y and 12y
19. Brugal Leyenda
20. Exquisito 1985 and 1995

fantastic rum, more complex and balanced compared to 15YO version, nice sweet vanilla on the nose, tones of dark chocolate and coffee comes after you sip it, great choice anytime, and your friends will love it when you give them a glass to try

Sweetness and full body. I just dont see that much difference from 15yo.

It is maybe a bit too sweet, but has complex taste with a creamy chocolate-like flavor.

Truly great rum, wonderful smell, but little bit oversweet for my taste.

As a bit of a sucker for sweet rums, this rum is very up my street.
Its a very smooth sipper, the first initially swig had quite a strong alcohol taste, but this quickly mellows.
No harshness and a great taste, caramel, spices & a tiny bit of oak.
A nice dark brown colour, no messing.
You feel like you're glowing afterwards.

Not a bad bottle design, its little more understated than some of the "Bling" bottles you get these days.
Tastewise is similar to Millonario 15 or Centenario 20, which is what I was hoping for.

Right enough of that, back to drinking my new Presidente rum...

Another find it, but it. Agree that it may surpass the 23.

...and Oliver, typical thick sweet with woody tones, another very good premium rum

Another find in the local Getränkemarkt and another good one. Comes is an overlarge box (it's unnecessarily wide) but the bootle inside is full of goodness: very smooth, just a nice sweetness, lots of character to it - was getting chocolate, cherries, toffee, a bit of spice - all nicely apportioned. Would not be the end of the world if I was stuck on a desert island with this one.

My first experience with the Presidente range and a very, very nice surprise.
The bottle design does not really look too promising and the label and stickers on it look even cheap I would say but do not get fooled by the packaging as it hides some really nice rum.
Smells great and the flavour reveals hints of cherries and chocolate. A bit sweeter than expected.
Somewhat similar to Diplomatico RE in a way but more complex and interesting experience at almost the same price. So far one of the best rums I tried hence 9.

When you smell on your glass it literally smells like oak and smoke...pleasant odor...

The taste confirmed what you already smelled with a good punch of alcohol and slight burn while sipping one by one...

Not as good though in my opinion as the centenario 20...enjoyed that one more...its between an 7.5 and 8.0...

Yes , it has a lot of sugar and colouring added but if your in the mood for a very easy to sip sweet rum , then this is the fella for you !
Its right up there with ED12 and DRE in taste but maybe more interesting ? After pouring a dram or three into my tasting glass i could sense liquorice , toffee , caramel and some spices..
Lovely mixture of heat and sweet and spicey all at the same time then absolutely no burn on the way down the throat . Nice long aftertaste , this bottle won't last long which is unfortunate as not available here in Australia !

I have tried all three aged Presidente rums (15, 19 and 23) and this one tastes best for me and also my friends. It is much smoother than 15, a little less than 23, but with stronger flavour. Also a little more sweet than 23. And very complex taste. One of my 5 favourites...

Very smooth, simple and sweet. Works all the time with hint of wood

Good taste, a little sharp and maybe a little too oily. Some hints of tobacco. I wonder why my rum guide does not feature this one...

This rum deserves to be famous like Diplomatico Reserva. Good drink if you have a visit.
