If you want that hot, full rum taste in your mixed drinks, this is for you. I am more into the premium sipping rums myself, but as a mixing rum it holds up well.

Decent rum, good taste to price ratio. Some ice will suffice.

Tasted at Laka Lono on 5/7/19. Amber in color with pretty much nothing remarkable. Bland and needed to be disguised in a daiquiri.

A lot of caramel with some hint of spices on the nose, which comes through on the palate, kind of centered at the front. Flavor doesn't linger as much as other rums, even though it coats the tongue nicely. It's definitely lighter than other aged rums, but has more complexity in the flavor. A step up from other rums for cocktails, if you want more complexity and flavor to break through the citrus, sugar and spices.

A little rough straight as a sipper but makes a good mixed drink with coke. The bottle is kind of cool to.

A nice rum to drink, straight up.
I've had better, but I've also had much worse

I like this rum i had a little new years eve binge on this. As always mixed with cola. Nice floral notes on the back ground. This compares to a havana especial or a bacardi 4.

Brugal Anejo Reserva is a pretty common rum at the all-inclusive resorts in the Dominican Republic.
It isn't so much that it is too harsh to be enjoyed neat, it just doesn't have the flavor or depth to be enjoyed that way.
If you get any more than 2 parts Coke to 1 part Anejo Reserva the Coke will pretty much hide the rum flavor as it is quite mild for a darker rum.
Overall, not bad for its intended use as a high volume spirit in the resorts.
