Smooth solid flavor. not overly sweet rum that i found to have a caramel esqe finish
It is the champ right now in my collection. But I am always looking for a new contender. Smooth caramel with a great finish
I had a sample of this on the rocks which rocked my world wow decent rum..
This is our go to. Excellent at about $55. Very smooth, carmel, with some nutty notes.
Definitely the best rum that is readily available in the states.
A pleasure to sip. Yes it's a tad dryer than most rums but it doesn't affect the experience of sipping this gem. So smooth with many nutty flavors to enjoy along with cinnamon and brown sugar. Will always find itself on my shelf.
This a very good complex dry rum, with no added sugar and so none of the sweet doctored-up taste of so many of the "Z" rums (Zaya, Zacapa, Zafra). This is what rum should taste like - woody, smoky, leathery. A little on the pricey side and not one I would drink every day, but a nice bottle to own if you like that flavor profile.
Excellent rum. I usually pay little mind to the packaging of spirits, I am a single malt man after all, but it is worth noting that in this instance Brugal has matched the innards to the outards perfectly. The whole presentation and tasting experience is true luxury and the deco themed bottled simply fits.
First pour this is a dry smokey rum with strong notes of raw grassy cane. It works well with the oak. Second pour the sweetness comes through more and the oak starts to give off vanilla while the nose picks up hints of Rocky Road ice cream. I like this Rum very much. Pricey but worth it when your dressing up.
Very balanced flavor from start to finish.
This one is really different and interesting. A short immediate flavor with a long leather Leather LEATHER taste. A very good one, not many other flavors involved, perhaps a lot of wood.... and seconds. An excellent alternative.
Is de beste brugal die ik heb gedronken .heel zachte na smaak deze mag zeker niet ontbreken in mijn collectie 👍👍👍👍. Een aanrader
A must have !
Complex, deep, sofisticated
One of my favs. its has a little heat with a hint of oak.
Reminds me of a smooth whiskey. Not for mixing. Not sweet. Smooth sipper. Nice bottle and a pleasing addition to any collector's bar
Amber color, vanilla, creme brûlée, light spice. Opened up with 1 ice cube
This is a nice after dinner rum straight out of the bottle. Really really smooth, a bit dry, but the sweetieness is balancing out fine the dryness.
Having had a multitude of Brugal's offerings, I must say Brugal 1888 is hands down the best I've ever had from Brugal. The sherry cask finish gives it a great rounded finish.
This rum should be best enjoyed neat or with a small ice.
Complex, with the right balance between dry and sweet.
Brugal 1888 is an excellent rum, the double aging gives it a great flavor and significant characteristics.
It is one of my favorite rums.
A very tasty rum to sip, especially for a Dominican rum.
A treat taste, color and after taste... excelent w/ one ice only
Very complex rum. A very good top shelf rum. Different then a typical rum with a bourbon, sherry, scotch type taste to it. Very drinkable and very smooth.
This is a big favorite of mine to sip. You can taste the extra aging in the sherry casks. We love it and it is easily available on the east coast.
My first observation was the darker color (mahogany) of the Brugal 1888 Gran Reserva Rum. Once in the glass distinct scents of toffee, molasses and vanilla were mixed along with the oak aroma that I so appreciate. My first, second, and third sips did not disappoint either with a soft caramel taste that lingered and finished very smoothly with a slight but pleasant burn.
This is a keeper for sure and the price ($49 CAD) in my home Province (Quebec), and even cheaper ($39 CAD) in Ontario, is a bonus. For these reasons I am rating the Brugal 1988 Gran Reserva Rum a 9.
