Have you found an online vendor selling Kaniche XO?
Please input the URL directly to the vendor page with the rum for sale and we will automatically show it on RumRatings
Kaniche XO rum is produced in Barbados where it is first aged in bourbon casks. It is one of the few rums that is then double aged for a more mellow finished in Pierre Ferrand ex cognac casks at their location in France.

At only $29.99 (Total Wines 2015), this beats some of the $100+ rums I've tried.
Sugarcane, vanilla, and a hint of coconut, this also includes a little oak and cognac - just enough to add to the flavor without taking from the rum goodness. Kind of similar to the Plantation XO 20th Anniversary, but not quite as good. Still an excellent rum.
Note overly impressed with the nose, but amazingly intense burst of concentrated brown sugar a second after sipping. Not too sweet or spicy, nice to sip.
Now if you enjoys a smooth, slightly sweet rum that has some complexity in the finish and don't want to ration out some high priced exotic, this rum is for you! Straight up is best or on the rocks but don't let the ice melt and water down the wonderful taste.
This rum is a true pleasure to sid down and drink, especially on a nice summerday. I'm a fan!! A lot of tropical fruits, medium sweetness and a light power.
Nose : I find banana, coconut, orange and in general tropical fruits. The rum is really delicious when you stick your nose down into the glass, for just enjoying the lovely notes.
Taste : I find banana, orange, tropical fruits and molasses. The aftertaste is tropical in the beginning, and it get mixed with molasses in the end.
So, I asked the guy in the store, what do you have that's a lot less expensive than the Ron Zacapa XO that has complexity and some body. It was a trick question as I've had lots of rum that would meet the request, but I was looking for something new. He recommended the Kaniche XO. I was Alitalia hesitant as I had the Kaniche 11 Year Old, liked it a lot, but found it light in body. He said this one was different. He was almost spot on. It doesn't have the body of a Zacapa xo, but at 1/3 the price, the body works out fine. The taste is just scrumptious. Loaded with butterscotch and vanilla, it's just so wonderful to sip and enjoy. Will become my go to rum!
Finally found one I just can't drink. Too sweet for my taste. Mixed it with a Mexican Coke and it was ok. Learning I prefer something more dry. Will save this one for guests.
Not too sweat, just enough alcohol a really rum to sip with ice. But a bit price that is why a 7 otherwise i would have given it an 8
I think it’s only available at Total wine. Which is a shame because it’s a fantastic complex rum at a reasonable price, I always grab a couple of bottles when I can. I appreciate the time it spends in cognac cask.
For the money, this rum hits all the high points. It's great by itself, works wonders in simple agreed cocktails, and isn't expensive. It lacks an upper level complexity, but for $30 you don't really expect that anyways. Go grab a bottle!
Kaniche XO rum is produced in Barbados and aged first in ex-bourbon casks (customary for rum) and then given a finish in cognac barrels (unusual in the industry but more customary for Kaniche)... hence, "double wood" rum. The suggest looking for "exotic notes" of vanilla, coconut, and cocoa.
Saw some reviews just now after I had already bought and tried it, but I must say that I really do appreciate this rum. Its sweet, but not too sweet. Similar to the Perfeccion. I would rate them both the same in my opinion. Nice wooden box too.
I taste cinnamon. My wife tastes coconut. Those rise to the top of a nicely complex and smooth rum. Spices are not too strong and overall not too sweet. Price was on point and while this isn’t my celebratory aged rum, it’s a good value for an everyday sipper.
Cheap enough to drink every day, good enough to want to. Smoothest (most mellow?) rum I've had.
Sehr guter und süsse rum. Auch für Frauen und Anfänger geeignet. Immer wieder gern
Nice flavours of vanilla and coconut. For the price it is simply great...
Définitivement un de mes rhums préféré. Son goût, son odeur sont vraiment aux top. A déguster absolument.
Ce rhum n est pas très dispendieux. Et il descend très bien juste comme ça.
Sweet and fruity as I like it. Not cheep, but worth the kr 500,-
The only thing this rum is good for is mixing with orange juice or pina coladas. The flavor is overwhelming with sweet coconut. Yech.
Friend offered me a drink and I have been hooked since that day. It is a very smooth rum. Great tasting and makes an excellent gift.
I’m not one to engage in unnecessary exaggeration, but I find that Kaniché XO is the perfect rum. It’s not overly sweet. It’s not overly smoky. It’s the perfect balance. It’s engaging and interesting. It’s smooth. It is best neat or over a small piece of ice. It’s defini a sipping rum, not for shooting. At $30 or so per bottle, it’s a great buy.
Vanilla in the nose; coconut, cacao and oak on the tongue. Almost perfect if you do not like your rum too sweet. Unfortunately, there is not much left, once you swallowed.
Chuť ovocnější a lehce sladká.
Slabší 8 (7.7)
