I sampled this rum as the distillery in Key West. I was never a "hard" alcohol or mixed drink person. The dark was as expected...it was alcohol -- But the Blond was like nothing I had ever had. It's not infused, but has this vanilla/maple essence and it's so smooth. It's so good, I drink it straight over ice and would never dream of putting it in a mixed drink. This rum is one of my favourite reasons for returning to Key West.

Perfectly Smooth. No harsh BleuAhhhh!!! when it hits your taste buds or after you swallow.

Highly recommend.

Now this is what i call surprise. Really smooth rum with vanila flavours ( added, but really, who cares? ). Bit more sweet but not too much. Beautiful bottle. Satisfaction guaranteed.

I just opened this beautiful bottle and enjoyed its almond, vanilla and lime aromas. Very drinkable, smooth, full flavored and nice finish. It reminds me of the now unavailable Orinoco Rum.

Clear, as one would expect
Aroma: smokey, herbal
Flavor: rock candy sweet, and I mean this. It's like Christmas candy in rum form.
Other flavors: aloe, burnt caramel, orange 🍊
Sue says this smells like a lovely candle

Cool bottle and when it comes to thick base bottles that is a good indicator of quality. Dont ask me why or how but anytime a bottle has a thick base its usually pretty good. Opening this guy up smells like maple syrup with some vanilla maybe nuts such as walnuts, no alcohol smell. In the glencarin glass it kicks up the alcohol note and then the maple syrup type smell in the background. Drinking it straight is not the smoothest but boy is it a bold white/blonde rum. This has a flavor you don't mess around with but its too much heat to be really enjoyed straight. In the diet coke, it is a wonderful rum that is on a level of nothing I had before from whites. Its deep and complex with long lasting after taste. I can say a bunch of taste notes but I much rather say if you see it buy it.

I’m a newbie here. I’ve always loved a good pina colada with a floater, but that’s as far as my rum taste went. Then, a few years ago, my wife and I wandered into the Papas Pilar tasting room while on vacation in Key West. I tasted the two signature varieties (one light, one dark). Wow! Wonderfully complex flavors! Unfortunately, I wasn’t thinking of writing a review at that very moment, so I really don’t have a description of the specific notes and flavors. But when I got home to Long Island, I bought a ”canteen” of the Blonde, and whipped up some “Papa Dobles” (Hemingway Daiquiris)- tangy, tart, and delicious, and of course I doubled the amount of Papas suggested! While savoring the blend of rum, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and Luxardo Maraschino liqueur, one can close their eyes and imagine being right there at Sloppy Joe’s on Duval. Next time I get some Pilar Blonde, I’ll be sure to sip some neat, and report back…

This is my go to rum for mixing, very flavorful with all hints that are noted about it. I love the dark and blonde both.

I never like trying a rum that has an overdone hype train, but I tried it anyway. I was actually impressed with the blonde. Nice straw color, pleasant aroma, and very smooth. Easily recommended to anyone that wants a "white" rum.

One of my favorites now. Good for adding to your favorite mixer, enjoy on ice with a squeeze of lime.

It's not white, it's blonde. A great mixing rum and just a wonderful concept from bottle to name on this one.
