Don Omario's Vintage 10-Year

If you prefer sweeter rums this one is not for you. You can smell sweet vanilla, sugar cane and oak. But taste is not sweet. It is very woody followed by butter, caramel, sugar cane and tropical fruit.

Rum made in classic and predictable style, vanilla, candied fruit, raisins, aged probably in ex-bourbon casks.

In der Nase zart und elegant aber auch nicht so aufregend. Etwas Vanilleeis in einer Holzschale mit
ein paar Früchten und Karamellsplitter, ein frisch gebackenes Biskuit steckt darin.
Am Gaumen weich und lieblich, dennoch ein wenig unstrukturiert. Die Aromen wuseln im Mund herum und scheinen keiner Ordnung anzugehören. Doch sie hinterlassen Spuren von Karamell, Kakao, Vanillegebäck, etwas Holz und ein paar Medizinkräuter.
Im Abgang bleiben die Kräuter um einiges länger als das Karamell.
Ein ehrlicher Rum der seine Freunde findet, für Entdecker.

In the nose delicate and elegant but also not so exciting. Some vanilla ice cream in a wooden bowl with
a few fruits and caramel chips, a freshly baked bitcuit stuck in it.
Soft and lovely on the palate, yet a bit unstructured. The flavors scurry around in the mouth and don't seem to belong to any order. Yet they leave traces of caramel, cocoa, vanilla pastry, some wood and a few medicinal herbs.
On the finish, the herbs linger a lot longer than the caramel.
An honest rum that finds its friends, for explorers.

As per its maker’s website, tastes a bit of coffee, chocolate, fleshy non-acidic fruits - prunes, dried apricots and dates. Relatively thin and dry in mouth. A bit pricy for it’s quality to my taste. Still a good sipper!

Rigtig god klassisk duft af kokos, vanilje. God power. Smag af røg? Vanilje, fad og karamel. Den gode duft trækker den op på et 7-tal, da smagen er meget ordinær, men duften giver gode forventninger. (9. december 2020 i 1423)

Duft, dejlig blød, let kokos.
Smag, honning, krydderurter, en del fad, let røg.

In Belize tasting a lot of rum. This has a nose that is a 9. But a taste and mouthfeel that is a 6 and a finish that is a 4. So I am kind to give it a 6 overall. Put this in a snifter and keep it there! Smell it. Maybe light up a cigar and smell it again….but the taste will not live up to that beautiful nose.

Aroma is not strong with oak and vanilla. Taste is light, woody and not complex. Aftertaste is more than average long, but a bit bitter and again wood dry with some smoked tones. Is not easy to find the price of full botle, but it should be around 80Eur. For me this is too much and I would not pay more than 40.

Quite soft rum, light on sugar with woody soft finish. If you want to try something different with pure taste.
