I purchased this for only $33.99 (K&L Wines 2015), so based on the price my expectations weren't that high. But this rum greatly exceeded my expectations!
It tastes like an agricole, albeit an exceptional one, and tastes at least as good as the far more expensive Clement XO (imho). It smells and tastes of sugar cane, caramel, vanilla, cookie dough, oak, honey, and molasses.
One of the best rum values in my opinion, this is a must try!
Edit: I've since tried the 18 and 23year Kirk & Sweeney, which are considerably better!
Butter scotch caramel flavors. Very smooth and tasty.
Vanilla can be felt and little bit of Cask. Taste is smooth. I like it. Yessss.
This was not bad, just lacking a disctict flavor presence. So many better choices at this price point.
Unique bottle design, great quality/price. Wood, vanilla in taste, smoother, just a bit sweet but not too much.
Not one of my favorite rums, will probably use it more for a mix in the end. Bit too pungent and strong in the throat... But it does look nice in the cabinet!
A great rum just the right amount of sweetness one of my favourites I would recommend this to anyone
I've drank many Rums. This is the now the standard. There are better rums but at what price? This should be drank neat. Use the inferior rums for mixing. Vanilla, Tobacco, banana, orange peel, butter baby! Not too sweet like Zaya and Pyrat, but just enough sweetness to not be cloying. This rum is complex and is a changer if you let it breathe in the glass for a while. I tried this side by side with Plantation 5 year and the plantation tasted like Ronrico. lol. For the few negative or average reviews on this site, those people are smoking. This is great Rum.
Edit: I recommended this to a Zaya drinker and they did not like it. It confirms my assessment that KS12 is just slightly sweet which is perfect for me.
Double edit: I just tried a bottle of Diplomatico exclusivo and the KS12 is still superior. Less sweet and more manly. Get some. They should be paying me for this.
This on of my favorites so far, it's so sweet and smooth with the perfect aftertaste. I love it!
Edit: i still like it, but halfway through i started to get pretty sick of it
The bottle isn't great for a cabinet, but it's contents are awesome.
A really good drop. Hints of vanilla and very smooth.
Maybe the best nose on a Rum I have discovered so far, it smells delicious. A lovely smooth rum with lots of interesting flavours going on in it. .... Vanilla, wood/oak, chocolate and spices. Great value for money.
I love this. I continually mistake it for its older brother, the remarkable 23 year. That’s how good this is. Smooth, sweet without being cloying, very deep flavor.
Dokonale vybalancovaná sladkost medu s rostlinnými podtóny cukrové třtiny, vanilkovými stopami a patrným přídechem dubu a sušeného ovoce
Chuť na patře:
Vstupní chuť je hřejivě (až nektarovitě) sladká, dále rozvíjí plnější charakter stařeného rumu s tóny vanilky a jemným, dlouhým, opravdu skvostným zakončením.

I liked the 23 YO which was the first of the line I got.
This is thinner, and not as tasty as the 23.
If you are going to try this, go for the extra bucks, it's worth it.
Still a good rum
Bought this on the recommendation of a rum friend who thinks it's the best of the 12/18/23. I found it a bit light and artificial and prefer the depth of the 23 personally.
A very good go to rum. If you haven’t had it it’s certainly worth trying!
This rum was recommended to us a few years ago at a liquor store up in the Adirondacks. this rum is to blame or to take credit for me and my spouse to become true connoisseurs of liquor......
For the price it is absolutely Head and Shoulders above anything in its class they also have an 18 and 23 year we just got a bottle of the 23-year I haven't tried yet...
If you're looking for a rich robust deep flavorful rum that can be shipped on the rocks or used in mixed drinks particularly apple cider heated makes quite a treat
This is a less sweet rum than I'm used to. Seemed harsher on the palate, than my go to rums, Zaya and Zacapa, but In retrospect I think it's the style. Mixes well.
Toffee is the keynote, medium body, easy to drink, far from the classic sherry oak Spanish style Dominican rum. A very pleasant surprise
A great rum and a very nice bottle for the collection
Great nose, same as 23 year but not as complex on the finish. However, scoring similar as it's £10 cheaper. Can't find a better rum for price.
The colour is nice, the nose is minimal but what really got my attention was just how smooth this rum is. I found no alcohol burn, none at all, not even a little bit. Amazing for a 40% alcohol product.
The flavors are understated and the after taste is mild, both of which cause me to reduce my rating. I like complex, full-bodied rums.
Basically a 10 for smoothness but marked down for lack of complexity.
Nice clean and smooth rum worth more than what it costs.
