Philippines | Aged | 40% ABV
Don Papa Small Batch Rum is produced by the Bleeding Heart Rum Company on the southern island of Negros in the Philippines. The rum is distilled from molasses, then aged for over 7 years in American oak barrels, and lastly charcoal filtered.
The name Don Papa rum was inspired by Papa Isio, a leader of the Philippine revolution against the Spanish who led his island to independence before joining the main revolutionary movement.

It is a nice rum to drink but it is too sweet for my liking
I am glad that I only bought a 0.35 bottle of this Don Papa (my first and last) to try. It has nothing to do with Rum. The smell is very reminiscent of oranges, almost like Cointreau, is sweetish and not unpleasant. The taste, however, is extremely sweet, again orange syrup, slight vanilla note, but the sticky sweetness covers almost everything.
This drink, I don't call it Rum, is even sweeter than bottlings from A.H. Riise. Here, heaps of sugar were added after distillation.
Excellent taste, delicate. Suitable for every occasion for both men and women
A more mild sipping rum with great balance and lovely flavors
I bought it and I am not disappointed. Sweet and mild, it can be used as a dessert for ice cream. I will definitely buy it again.
The name, packaging, Asian Rum, growing on volcano ground. It's all is a real trigger to buy this rum. Just say it out loud, 'Tonight, I'm drinking Don Papa rum'. Sound great and that just it.
The rum it self is a different story, it is not bad, it is not good, it is rum they say, but when you drink Don Papa, you'll think it's liqueur? it's half bodied, with an overload of vanilla. My not so 'rum-experienced' friends loved it, but the ones that drink rum on regular base, hate it. And that's just pure. I tried to drink this with cola and after 2 glasses, I was full and nauseous.

Smells a lot like a vanilla and lemonade ice cream float.
"For all its sweet sugariness, its really very drying and bitter on the palate once it all settles down."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Nice bottle, bad taste

I was looking forward to Don Papa, and finally had a chance to have a taste at Trailer Happiness in London last night.
The nose is a combination of fruity/orange and cough syrup. Unfortunately this slightly off-putting fragrance carries right through to the taste, which is like a bad version of Pyrat. The finish lingers and reminds of the poor initial almost sour flavour.
Mixing with coke didn't help, and might have even made it worst. In general, I'm not sure what Don Papa is best mixed with - maybe a blended drink? I'm Interested to hear what others think.
