Bacardi Superior rum

Bacardi Superior

United States | Light | 40% ABV

Bacardi Superior Rum is the original Bacardi rum, dating back to 1862 when Don Facundo Bacardi Massó purchased his first rum distillery in Cuba. 150 years later, Bacardi Superior is now manufactured in Puerto Rico, but the recipe remains largely the same.

A unique strain of yeast discovered in the Cuban sugarcane fields is used to produce Bacardi Superior rum. The rum is filtered through charcoal, a process pioneered by Bacardi, before and after it is aged in oak barrels for at least one year.

This rum goes very well in cocktails. I wouldn't drink rum alone. It is very sweet and sharp.

Not a nice drop at all, even at the price of water I would not buy

Nothing wrong with this rum and was my "go to" along with Lambs. And then I discovered rum ratings and found there were better rums and better values with this experience. Enjoy the journey!

Good to mix with a Mexican coke. Not really for straight sipping.

White rum is filtered and barely aged. It's SUPPOSED to mostly be a blank canvas for mixed drinks. Heck, it's one of the most traditional silver rums used in mixed drinks so it's how a lot of them were balanced.
It smells mildly sweet and tastes to me like nearly nothing at all.

I see no reason to drink it straight, but if I didn't want to screw up a classic drink, like a coquito or tiki drink that calls for a white Puerto Rican rum, I would hesitate to swap it out.

I mean… is it good? Not really. But for the price? Yeah I guess. Look, you get exactly what you should expect. Nothing exceptional or even “good”. But it’s still better than some of the alternatives at the same price, somehow. Serviceable for cocktails, if you really have nothing better. Acceptable for shooting. Otherwise, you’d never catch me sipping on it.

Harsh taste, with quite the burn. Not an enjoyable rum. Doesn't even mix well, with one exception. Made a decent mojito, although better rums did make for better mojitos. I will be avoiding this one.

This is the first rum for many. Useful as a mixer only.

Ok, this more for mixed drinks, not for sipping. Taste is raw for strong personalities. Does not hurt in coctail.

Bacardi is okay with coke for just a nightcap . When I was young before I tried several rums this was good.
