Bacardi Superior Rum is the original Bacardi rum, dating back to 1862 when Don Facundo Bacardi Massó purchased his first rum distillery in Cuba. 150 years later, Bacardi Superior is now manufactured in Puerto Rico, but the recipe remains largely the same.

A unique strain of yeast discovered in the Cuban sugarcane fields is used to produce Bacardi Superior rum. The rum is filtered through charcoal, a process pioneered by Bacardi, before and after it is aged in oak barrels for at least one year.

To all the people giving it a 1 or 2, I believe you have this mistaken for the very similar appearing Bacardi Carta Blanca, which is actually just lawnmower fuel. Bacardi Superior is still chemical-tasting and still not the most pleasant sip, but it does have more flavor and is more drinkable than its wretched cousin. I've probably had a good mojito made with this at some point, so it's hard to hate. It's pretty hard to love too, unfortunately. On one frightening trip by plane, I thought this might be the last drink I ever would have the chance to enjoy, and even then, my feelings were still mixed, as I had the privilege to have rum as I thought my plane was going down, but still desired something better. On that flight, I had asked for some rum, and upon finding out it was Bacardi white, I only hoped it was this one and not Carta Blanca. I didn't have my payment saved for in-flight drinks so I couldn't buy one after all, and got a free tonic water instead. Twenty-something odd minutes later, the flight attendant handed me a mini bottle over my shoulder (pictured) and said "don't worry about it" in a rushed voice, then ran to the front to announce that we are about to experience "extreme turbulence" and that they were going to "deploy" something or other, and to "please not panic as this is not an emergency." It was the mildest turbulence ever but I thought I had a guardian angel to give me one last sip before I perished. Thankfully, my real guardian angel made sure this wasn't my last after all.

This rum was good as a mixed drink. However when tried near it tasted like rubbing alcohol.

Je ne et bois plus ce genre de rhum. Un goûte l alcool même dans un rhum and coke je le trouve mauvais.

It is, probably, THE most basic rum in the world. Like, standard holder for the basic.

This is the most tasteless rum I have tried. If you like that, power to you. I would not even use this with coke.

Bacardi Superior is certainly cool for tiramisu and baking needs.

Also a good companion for home bar cocktails.

Definitely not and shall not drink on neat.
