Bacardi Superior Rum is the original Bacardi rum, dating back to 1862 when Don Facundo Bacardi Massó purchased his first rum distillery in Cuba. 150 years later, Bacardi Superior is now manufactured in Puerto Rico, but the recipe remains largely the same.

A unique strain of yeast discovered in the Cuban sugarcane fields is used to produce Bacardi Superior rum. The rum is filtered through charcoal, a process pioneered by Bacardi, before and after it is aged in oak barrels for at least one year.

Friends don't let friends drink this swill. It's what gives rum a bad name. Sadly and all too often, the only rum non-rum drinkers know. If you're looking for an affordable rum for use in mixed drinks, do yourself a favor and try Cruzan Light. It's an aged light rum that blends seamlessly into cocktails.

Well unfortunately this is what's used everywhere due to mass marketing pull from this huge manufacturer...but it is right down there with the worst white rums out there from my perspective. A strong smell of naphthalene does nothing to help along this old, harsh horse. Useful only in a Cuba Libre and then only with a lot of Coke and lime and when nothing else is available. Even Bacardi has better mixing rums for just a little more money. But go with the cheapest Cruzan for a far superior experience.

...has taken a once reputable brand and sunken it to the depths of Davey Jones' Locker. The rum that I grew up drinking, is no longer the same. In the late seventies and early eighties this rum had flavor and a bit of nose. Now it is an astringent smell of alcohol wafting from the bottle and the burn of unrefined swill. Being the largest brand worldwide has done nothing to assist this product unfortunately except lower the price. There are better rums at comparable prices, please skip the Bacardi offerings and look for the others.

If this is superior to anything, I'd like to see that. Undrinkable even mixed. Such a harsh and unfavorable taste, yet many people seem to love it. Not my cup of tea in the slightest.

If someone only tried this, they would never drink rum again..I try to avoid anything with the name Bacardi attached to it..an insult to rum drinkers
