To hell with vanilla vodka! This stuff is the best vanilla spirit I've come across.
This was the first bottle of alcohol I ever purchased. I have to give this a 10 for my sentimental reasons, but honestly it remains my favorite rum.
Very sweet and full of vanilla flavor.
My wife loves this for the taste of a adult root beer float
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

The first Whaler's I was able to find.

I had been looking for Whaler's Dark for a while for a tiki drink float with no luck. I found this and decided to give it a try.
The first bottle broke in my car on the way home and the eye watering vanilla smell really put me off the idea of trying again.
Since Whaler's Dark is known for having a vanilla smell, I grudgingly tried a second time and was disappointed when I tasted it straight. So sweet.
Like Malibu Coconut Rum is mostly just a sweet coconut liqueur, this is a sweet vanilla liqueur. Don't expect rum to be a forward characteristic. Definitely not a good substitute for the dark... or is it?
I did try it as a float... meh. I used this in coffee (mmm). I used it in a modified Russian Quaalude in place of plain vodka (a little too sweet as a cocktail). What really was a ridiculously sweet winner though was using it as a replacement for vanilla vodka for a butterbeer recipe I had tried before. I never felt the vodka was right for it, but the Vanille was.
Would I buy this again? Probably not... unless I was feeling like a house elf and needed my butterbeer to be strong enough to be effective.
