Pyrat XO Rum is produced from nine different Caribbean rums that are blended and then aged up to 15 years in used American sweet oak barrels.
The squat Pyrat XO rum bottle shape is inspired by the typical design of rum bottles kept by pirates and ship captains in the 19th century.

I was looking for something to drink over ice and I had seen some reviews that this was the one to get. WRONG. It was harsh with more burn than flavor. Maybe if you bury it in a blended drink then it would be alright.
The search continues for the perfect sipper
There's a reason why this so called rum comes in such a nice bottle and such nice box that looks like a book with all kinds of ribbons and stuff, because if it wasn't for that I don't think anyone would buy this crap. Awful taste. Not good at all in my opinion.
quite expensive, quite unpleasant, Bacardi with some orange peel soaked in it. never again.
Ein Rum den man liebt oder hasst. Für mein Geschmack ist der Orangengeschmack viel zu dominant. Kommt schon fast wie ein Orangenlikör daher. Nicht mein Geschmack.
This drink is disgusting. I wouldn’t even call it a rum. It has so much “orange flavoring” thst it is almost undrinkable. I don’t know what they were thinking. They should have to label as orange flavored rum.
Tastes like jet fuel, and whilst most jet fuels are made for flying aircraft every now and then some seem to slip past quality control and end up being put in colourful bottles for unsuspecting rum drinkers to cough and splutter over
this is an orange liqueur not a rum.
intrigued by the name and the bottle very nice I decided to try this rum.
I was immediately disgusted as more than a rum looks like an orange liquor, however, poor
Strong ethanol smell and taste with an after smell of synthetic orange and a dash of vanilla. This rum is undrinkable and sadly this will be an expensive rum for mixers and cooking
Terrible rum, just terrible.
Yes you can drink it. Yes it does not taste awfull. But this is nothing like something you would expect of a "rum". I tastes like a fake orange. The smell is also extremly awkward!
"Had wine not been the drink of choice 2,000 or so years ago, Jesus would have probably turned every drop of water on earth into Pyrat Rum XO Reserve"
"Pyrat XO rum review by Jimmy from The Drunken Pirate"
"it’s like an orange Chuck Norris came through the joint, belted out a roundhouse kick to the face..."
"Pyrat XO rum review by Lance from RumConnection"
A very definite hit of oranges.
"The orange taste is very much at the forefront and the burn leaves behind a bitter tang of orange peel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

While the color is good, the aroma and taste is quite weak. I first sampled a shot and was most disappointed. The rum tasted watered-down, and not in a "smooth" way. I then attempted to taste it on the rocks. While cold, the taste remained the same. I tried it with a mixer, but it tasted like a watered-down soda. As an avid rum drinker, Pyrat XO Reserve was a complete let down and, most likely, the worst rum that has ever passed through my teeth and gums, on a course headed down my throat to my stomach. I fail to comprehend any use for it other than to drown a few ants. It was a real waste of money.
